Dry Eye Syndrome

Are your eyes uncomfortably dry a good portion of time? Are you tired of burning, stinging eyes that water, or difficulty wearing contact lenses due to your eyes feeling constantly irritated? You may be experiencing the common condition known as dry eye (keratoconjunctivitis sicca), which is linked to the tear ducts’ inability to produce enough, or a high enough quality of, tears to lubricate the eyes. This change in tear production can happen for a variety of reasons, including aging, the presence of medical conditions (including diabetes, lupus and thyroid disorders) and the use of certain medications (including antihistamines, antidepressants, and birth control pills).

Whatever the cause, chronic dry eye is an uncomfortable problem, as people who suffer from it feel that there is always something in their eyes, which causes their eyes to feel irritated a lot of the time. If you are experiencing problems with chronically dry eyes, we offer treatments ranging from medication to surgery that manage this uncomfortable, though otherwise benign, condition.
