Dr. Lawrence B.Katzen, M.D. is Board Certified and fellowship-trained and has contributed to the ophthalmic literature as an author of numerous articles and textbooks, including peer reviewed scientific journals. His dedication to leading edge technology and advanced surgical techniques is unparalleled as is his commitment to quality patient care. Dr. Katzen has been practicing in the Palm Beaches for over three decades. He has gained an International reputation for his volunteer efforts in reducing blindness in Third World countries throughout his 20 year involvement with Project Orbis.
Dr. Lawrence Katzen is often invited to lecture on LASIK at the major national and international meetings on a variety of refractive topics, including standards of care in the laser operating room. He has been honored by the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his efforts in teaching surgical skills to other ophthalmologists. Lawrence Katzen, MD, belongs to an exclusive inner circle of international eye surgeons who perform over 2,000 surgical procedures each year.
Dr. Lawrence Katzen is one of 20 surgeons in the U.S. selected to perform FDA clinical trials on new refractive technology. He was also among the first eye surgeons in the country to have his own vision corrected through LASIK.
Dr. Katzen is a certified physician in the use of the IntraLase LASIK procedure, and the VISX Star S4 "Active Trak" Excimer Laser System with CustomVue. He has performed LASIK on more eye doctors in Palm Beach County than any other surgeon.

Jerome Ramos-Esteban, M.D. is board certified and is one of only a few anterior segment surgeons in the United States with dual fellowship certification in Glaucoma and Corneal/Refractive surgery. After graduating from medical school, he served a post-doctoral research fellowship in glaucoma and his internship in Internal Medicine at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City, NY. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, CT. He served his clinical fellowship in glaucoma at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA; and his two-year cornea and refractive surgery fellowship at the Cole Eye Institute of the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH.
Dr. Jerome Ramos-Esteban specializes in the medical and surgical management of complicated anterior segment diseases. He performs no-suture, clear cornea cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation including multifocal lenses for presbyopia. He is a specialist in bladeless laser vision correction (Femtosecond/IntraLase® laser) and has extensive experience with the two leading excimer laser platforms. Jerome Ramos-Esteban, MD, is fellowship-trained in glaucoma surgery (trabeculectomy and glaucoma valve implants) as well as glaucoma laser therapy. Dr. Jerome Ramos-Esteban also performs a wide variety of corneal transplantation procedures (full thickness and lamellar corneal transplantation), pterygium surgery and ocular surface reconstruction (amniotic membrane transplantation). He is also trained in the medical management of corneal and external diseases including dry eye.
Dr. Jerome Ramos-Esteban is a frequent lecturer at major national and international ophthalmological meetings including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, International Society of Refractive Surgery and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Jerome Ramos-Esteban, MD, is also very active in the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology and has lectured in several countries in Latin America. Last year Dr. Ramos-Esteban was invited and traveled to Beijing, China to lecture at the Chinese Ophthalmologic Society.
Dr. Ramos-Esteban is an accomplished researcher with over 25 scientific paper publications and has contributed numerous chapters to some of the most prestigious textbooks in ophthalmology. While at Yale he was awarded the prestigious Yale Alumni in Ophthalmology Resident Research Award and a research award by the Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians. Dr. Ramos-Esteban is also one of the founding members of NOVUS, the Latin American Student Association at Yale. He has also served as Alternate Director of Highlights of Ophthalmology and is one of the editors of the Spanish edition of the prestigious textbook “Clinical Ophthalmic Oncology”.
Dr. Ramos-Esteban resides in Palm Beach County; he has a special interest and appreciation for contemporary architecture and enjoys traveling and playing golf with his family. He is fluent in French and Spanish.

Elizabeth Oteiza, M.D. has served thousands of patients in Palm Beach County. During the last decade, she has provided excellence in eye care as a staff ophthalmologist at the Katzen Eye Care and Laser Center.
Dr. Elizabeth Oteiza attended the University of Florida College of Medicine, where she graduated with high honors at the top of her class. She completed a post-graduate fellowship in diseases of the vitreous and retina at the University of South Florida and was involved in research studies to determine the optimal treatment for serious intraocular infections. Elizabeth Oteiza, MD, is board certified by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Elizabeth Oteiza is bilingual and fluent in Spanish. She currently resides in Wellington with her husband, Seth, and their three children. She enjoys travel, tennis, exercise and volunteer activities within local schools.

Michael Weiskopf, O.D. received a Bachelor of Science degree from Northwestern University and a Doctorate in Optometry from Indiana University School of Optometry. He is a board-certified optometric physician in the treatment and management of eye diseases. He performs routine eye exams and also does surgical consulting and co-manages patients with pre- and post-operative laser vision correction, refractive lens exchange and cataract surgery. He has participated as an investigator in multiple clinical research studies for the FDA. He was a consultant and physician for nursing home facilities and provided on-site eye examinations for special needs residents in South Florida.
Dr. Weiskopf joined Katzen Eye Care and Laser Center in 1990 and has served as the practice liaison to the optometric community, coordinating patient referrals and co-management. He is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. He was past president of the Palm Beach County Optometric Association and assists in providing optometric physicians with continuing education programs for the completion of licensure renewal requirements.
He is originally from Chicago, Illinois and enjoys travel, media and music.

Debra McCracken, O.D. is a Florida-certified physician and has practiced at Katzen Eye Care and Laser Center since 1998. Dr. McCracken received a Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. She also received a Master of Science degree in Physiological Optics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition, Dr. McCracken has completed specialized training in laser vision correction for patient care and management.
At Katzen Eye Care and Laser Center, Dr. McCracken specializes in the education and all aspects of care of refractive surgery patients. She also performs comprehensive eye examinations and assists in the management of patients enrolled as FDA. study participants.
Dr. McCracken is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Florida Optometric Association. She is also the author of research articles which have appeared in the Journal of Ocular Pharmacology. As a member of Students in Optometric Service to Humanity, Dr. McCracken has traveled to Mexico and Jamaica to provide eye care to populations in need.
She is originally from Toledo, Ohio, and enjoys the warmth of South Florida. Her favorite activity is spending time with her daughter. She also enjoys her animals, reading, boating and home improvements.
